Biwako Valley, Green Season from April 22. Take the sightseeing lift to the hill of yellow narcissus with about 300,000 bulbs.

Posted on 2023-04-26 by Editor in Chief

Lake Biwa Valley will begin full-scale green season operations on April 22.

The daffodil hill at the top of the mountain was initially cultivated as a new initiative for the ski resort during the off-season in spring. For a time, the hill was plagued by feeding damage by wild deer, but now the vast slope of approximately 20,000 m2 is filled with approximately 300,000 bulbs of three varieties of Western daffodils with large petals, and the entire slope of the mountain is dyed yellow.

In 2023, the blooming started early due to the mild weather that continued from early spring, and as of now, the flowers are in their second half of bloom overall. Usually, the best time to see the flowers is early to mid-May, but this year, they are expected to be in full bloom by the end of April. There are also more flower buds than last year.

From April 22, visitors can take a sightseeing lift to Daffodil Hill. If you purchase tickets online at the official website by the day before, you will be able to board the ropeway without standing in line at the ticket counter.
