A “food lottery” for 5,000 yen per entry, redeemable for gourmet food at Peach’s destinations. Realized in collaboration with Daimaru Umeda Store.

On April 27, Peach Aviation, in collaboration with Daimaru’s Umeda store celebrating its 40th anniversary, launched a “tabeji (food lottery)” featuring a “travel lottery” for enjoying a trip where the destination is not chosen. The price is 5,000 yen per ticket, and the lottery will be sold for four days from April 27 to 30, with a limited number of 100 tickets per day.

The food lottery is a “food omikuji-type capsule” that can be enjoyed for 5,000 yen per capsule. The capsule contains a voucher for a gourmet food item related to Peach’s destinations and an original can badge, which can be used on the first and second basement floors of the Daimaru Osaka store.

The machine contains 10 capsules for each of the nine destinations (10 capsules each for Sendai, and 2 capsules for each of the 9 destinations). 100 capsules are sold per day, including a gold capsule as a “winning lottery ticket”.

The gold capsule contains a travel lottery ticket for the same destination as the food lottery ticket, along with an original can badge and gourmet food voucher, and a Peach Point exchange code worth 6,000 yen that can only be used to purchase airline tickets to the designated destination. The number of gold capsules is not disclosed.

On the 27th, the first day of sales, there was already a long line before 11:00 a.m. After the sales began, purchasers rushed to the sales floor to open the capsules that came out of the machine and get the designated gourmet vouchers. A female customer who had been waiting in line before sales began said, “I found out about it yesterday from an announcement on Peach’s Instagram and came to buy it,” indicating the high level of interest in the “Shoku Kuji Lottery.

In addition, for this collaboration, a limited number of “suitcases with travel lottery” are available for purchase at the travel goods section on the 8th floor of the Daimaru Umeda store for ¥5,000, which can be used to purchase a suitcase from the participating manufacturers (Ace and Samsonite) for a separate travel lottery.

The purchase of a qualifying suitcase provides the “first travel kikkake”. The travel lottery (purchased separately) attached to the suitcase contains a designated destination and mission among 11 domestic routes departing from Osaka, an exchange code for 6,000 yen or 10,000 yen worth of Peach points that can only be used to purchase tickets for the designated destination, and an original can badge.

In addition, until May 7, visitors can experience a seat on Peach’s newest aircraft, the Airbus A321LR, in front of the south escalator on the 7th floor of the Daimaru Umeda store. Peach CA uniforms are also on display, and visitors can actually sit in a seat and experience what it feels like to be on a Peach flight.

Mr. Kenji Matsuyoshi of the Sales Promotion Department at Daimaru’s Umeda store said, “We have prepared a travel lottery based on the theme of food, with the hope that our customers will enjoy shopping at Peach’s destinations as if they were there. We hope you will enjoy Daimaru’s gourmet food along with Peach’s destinations,” he said.

The travel lottery was launched in August 2021. As of April 2023, a cumulative total of 30,000 lots had been sold, thanks to the excitement of not being able to choose the destination. This time, Peach and Daimaru Umeda collaborated on a special project to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Daimaru Umeda store. The “Shoku Kuji Lottery” was created as a special version of the “Tabi Kuji Lottery” to allow visitors to enjoy a trip where they cannot choose the destination together with Daimaru Umeda Store’s gourmet food.
