On April 27, the Japan Tourism Agency announced that confirmation of vaccination history or negative results, a condition for using the National Travel Assistance, will no longer be required after May 8.
In line with the government’s official decision to shift the status of new coronavirus infection to category 5 infectious disease from May 8, the current “Basic Policy on Measures against New Coronavirus Infectious Disease” has also been abolished. As a result, it will be possible to stay overnight or participate in tours without having to present a vaccination certificate, PCR test, or other negative results after that date.
In addition, future infection control measures will be taken on a voluntary basis by individuals and businesses, and the previously recommended call for “new travel etiquette” will be terminated.
