Venus Travel, a member of the SHK Line Group, has begun sales of the Tokyo-Kyushu Ferry “Urayasu/Makuhari Toktoku Drive Pack: 4 days from/to Shin Moji,” which operates between Shin Moji Port in Fukuoka and Yokosuka Port in Kanagawa Prefecture.
The tour is available from June 12 to August 31 (except August 8 to 20), and costs 55,000 yen for two people. The plan is simple, with a round-trip boat ride (one car under 5 meters is allowed) and one night at a hotel in Urayasu or Makuhari, and can be extended for up to 10 days; since all but one night is arranged by the passenger, the tour is attractive for those who want to make the most of their car and go to places such as the remote Boso Peninsula. Pets are also allowed for an extra fee.
The vessels used are “Hamayu” and “Soreiyu,” and cabins are shared bed-type rooms that can be partitioned by roll curtains with the upper and lower bunks arranged on opposite sides of the bed. They are equipped with a restaurant, a large bath with sauna, a planetarium, a screen room for watching movies, a barbecue terrace, and other facilities.
Applications must be made by phone at least 14 days prior to the departure date, or by applying for a provisional application at least 7 days prior to the departure date on the website.
The hotel in Urayasu is the Comfort Suites Tokyo Bay (5-8-15 Meikai, Urayasu, Chiba). No meals are available, and the hotel is open only from Monday through Thursday. The Makuhari hotel is the APA Hotel & Resort Tokyo Bay Makuhari (2-3 Hibino, Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture), which includes breakfast.
