Yodobashi Holdings will relocate and expand Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Sendai, located at the east exit of JR Sendai Station, to a new commercial building on June 2.
The company donated approximately 2.16 billion yen (including the cost of compensation work necessary for the construction) to the city of Sendai for the pedestrian deck, overhead passageway, express bus terminal, and other facilities that have been developed in conjunction with the new building, utilizing the “Corporate Hometown Tax Payment System”. On May 29, a donation ceremony was held with the participation of Mayor Kazuko Kori and others.
Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Sendai will relocate its existing store to the 2nd and 4th floors of the Yodobashi Sendai Daiichi Building (1-3-1 Tsutsuoka, Miyagino-ku, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture), which is located diagonally across from the current building (Yodobashi Sendai Daiichi Building) and directly connected to the east exit of the station.
Of the 12 floors above ground and one below, the first floor houses restaurants and the relocated and renovated Ishii Sports Yodobashi Sendai, an outdoor mountain climbing specialty store; the fifth floor houses UNIQLO, GU, ABC-MART, and other goods, services, and amusement; and the sixth floor is home to restaurants. The sixth floor will house restaurants. The parking lot will be equipped with a total of approximately 1,600 spaces, both indoor and off-street.
With a total sales floor space of approximately 22,000m2, the largest in Tohoku as an electronics retailer, the store and Yodobashi.com will collaborate to offer more than 8 million products.
The store will be closed from May 31 to June 1 for preparation for the opening; it will open at 9:30 a.m. on June 2.
