JAL and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. have launched a specially painted aircraft, “JAL Colorful Dreams Express The specially painted aircraft, “JAL Colorful Dreams Express,” began service on domestic routes on June 9, 2012.
The aircraft is a 252-seat Boeing 767-300ER (registration number: JA614J). The first flight was a round-trip charter flight to/from Haneda. It was shown to the press prior to the charter flight on the inaugural day.
JAL has been an official sponsor of Tokyo Disneyland since its opening in 1983. In fact, the first tie-up between the two companies was realized in 2001 when Tokyo DisneySea opened. This will be the fifth time.
The fuselage depicts Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends in special Tokyo Disney Resort 40th Anniversary outfits, representing a special year in which everyone’s colorful dreams are united and celebrated together. The beautiful gradation of colors of the 40th anniversary logo also shines through.
The garland illustration, reminiscent of the “Dream Garland,” a key item symbolizing the 40th anniversary theme “Dream-Go-Round,” was also softly painted on the entire surface.
The headrest covers on the in-flight seats also feature a special design to celebrate the 40th anniversary. These are made from recycled plastic. There are a total of three types of paper cups with original designs. In addition, passengers will receive a “boarding certificate sticker” as a commemorative gift.
JAL President Yuji Akasaka and Oriental Land President and COO Kenji Yoshida took the stage at the ceremony to celebrate the launch of the specially painted “JAL Colorful Dreams Express. They emphasized the strong relationship that has existed between the two companies for many years, and celebrated the inaugural flight.
The audience also heard an introduction to the Park’s 40th anniversary by Tokyo Disney Resort Ambassador Mika Ogasawara, as well as heartwarming memories and comments from employees born in 1983 at both companies.
The specially painted “JAL Colorful Dreams Express” is scheduled to be in service until around April 2024. The flight schedule can be checked on the “Flight Status Information (Domestic Flights)” in the evening of the day before the boarding date.
