On June 12, Fujisawa City and Odakyu Electric Railway signed an “Agreement on the Construction of the First Phase of the Fujisawa Station North-South Free Passage Widening and Improvement Project”.

The construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2028.

The free passageway will be widened from the existing 8m to 16m, and an elevator will be newly installed near the south exit. The station building will be converted from the existing ground level ticket gates to a bridge over the free passageway, with the main ticket gate function on the free passageway floor, and the ground level will be partially used. In addition, two elevators and four escalators will be installed in the station concourse. Tourist information facilities, public restrooms, and a police box will also be reorganized as part of the new station facilities.

The total project cost is 8,368,321,000 yen, with Fujisawa City bearing 6,421,011,000 yen and Odakyu 1,947,310,000 yen. Fujisawa City will be responsible for the free passageway, while Odakyu will be responsible for station improvements.
