Airbnb will introduce a new “reservation screening” technology to counter party use that may disturb others.
The introduction of this technology in Japan is a follow-up measure to the July 2022 announcement of the codification of the prohibition of party use that would cause inconvenience to others.
Identify potential high-risk reservations based on whether the guest has a positive review history, length of trip, distance to the booked listing, whether the booked dates are weekends or weekdays, etc., to prevent unwanted parties from taking place.
In the two years since the company implemented the party countermeasure in August 2020, reports of parties worldwide have decreased by 55%. This technology has also seen a decrease in reports of party use as a result of the company’s global pilot implementation.
