In Ethiopia, the armed conflict between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) that lasted for two years from November 2020 ended with the conclusion of a peace agreement in November 2022. In response to this, the Federal Government of Ethiopia is restoring infrastructure damaged by the conflict in the conflict-affected regions of Amhara and Tigray, as well as quickly resuming and improving the quality of basic services. In particular, 2.4 million students (UNICEF, 2023) in Tigray and 700,000 students (UNICEF, 2022) in Amhara Region are unable to attend school, and the restoration of school facilities, water supply, and sanitation facilities that were severely damaged by the conflict is an urgent issue.
