Ise City, Mie Prefecture, will hold the 71st National Fireworks Festival dedicated to Ise Jingu Shrine on July 15. The event has been canceled since the 2019 event due to the new Corona, but will be held for the first time in four years.

This event is one of Japan’s three largest fireworks competitions, and approximately 9,000 fireworks are set off along the banks of the Miyagawa River in Ise. Selected pyrotechnicians from all over Japan gather to compete in a “competitive fireworks display” format, where they dedicate their fireworks and pray for safety throughout the year.

The competition is divided into two parts: the “launching fireworks” section, in which each pyrotechnist shoots off three No. 5 (approx. 15 cm in diameter) and one No. 10 (approx. 30 cm in diameter) in sequence, and the “starmine” section, in which various fireworks are shot off rhythmically. The climax of the competition will be a powerful and exciting fireworks display. The climax of the competition will be a powerful “Wild Starmine” finale.

Tickets for paid spectator seats are currently available at convenience stores (FamilyMart, Seven-Eleven) and online (Ticket Pia [Pia code: 650-478]). 6-seat reserved seats, unreserved seats, and chair reserved seats are available, and will close when they are gone.

Since traffic congestion is expected on the day of the event, we recommend that visitors use public transportation or come on foot. The nearest stations within walking distance are Kintetsu Miyamachi Station and JR Yamada Kamiguchi Station. A temporary shuttle bus scheduled to run from JR and Kintetsu Ise-shi Station will take approximately 10 minutes to reach the venue.
