National Travel Assistance was announced to be extended beyond July in some regions.
The implementation period and conditions vary from region to region, but the following lodging plans and one-day tours will continue to be accepted through participating businesses (mainly travel agencies and OTAs).
The discount rate will be the same as before, a flat rate of 20% of the travel price (up to 5,000 yen per night for travel products that include transportation, and up to 3,000 yen for other travel products), plus an electronic coupon (2,000 yen per night on weekdays, 1,000 yen per night on holidays) that can be used for purchasing souvenirs and eating and drinking. In addition, due to the transition of the new type of corona to category 5, it is no longer necessary to present a vaccination history and negative testimony.
For individual travel, when the allotted budget limit is reached, applications will be closed even during the implementation period. However, the Japan Tourism Agency recommends that “group tours (including one-day tours) using chartered buses” remain available, and some travel agencies will continue to sell these tours.
For details, please check the official website of each region.
