This is a flower park with approximately 50,000 lavender plants in full bloom for a limited time only. Located on a plateau at an elevation of 1,300 meters, the average temperature is a cool 20 degrees Celsius in July and August, making it one of the best places in Gunma Prefecture to escape the summer heat. The best time to view lavender is from mid to late July for early-blooming varieties, from late July to early August for mid-blooming varieties, and from early to mid August for late-blooming varieties.
Lavender Picking Experience
For a limited time only, Tanbara Lavender Park will hold a “Lavender Picking Experience. Visitors can take home the lavenders they pick and use them as dried flowers or potpourri.

The park’s restaurants offer a variety of original menus that allow visitors to enjoy lavender in both visual and taste sensations, as well as menus that use ingredients produced in Gunma Prefecture. The store sells dried lavender, lavender potpourri, and original goods using essential oil extracted from the lavender in the park.
In addition to lavender, there are photo spots throughout the park, including the “Irodori no Oka” (Hill of Colors) and the “Himawari Garden” where colorful flowers bloom. In addition, a free kids’ park and dog run are available, and a new hammock area will be opened this summer, making the park a fun place for families and pets alike.
