The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has begun accepting applications for the second round of planning for “Transportation and Tourism Linked Projects.
The period is from July 3 to July 31 at 5:00 p.m., and the application can be made through the application form on the official portal site.
This project supports efforts by transportation operators to tie up with local tourism resources and add value to local tourism by implementing tourism events, turning vehicles and other assets into tourism resources, and improving the quality of related facilities to both attract more visitors and improve accessibility. The project will be eligible for initiatives in which transportation operators collaborate with local tourism-related parties to attract visitors, improve accessibility, and increase the number of users of tourist attractions, tourist facilities, and lodging facilities, as well as profitability.
According to a post-project questionnaire from the fiscal 2022 adopters, railroad operators have seen a change in the number of special tickets sold and have been able to hold events in front of stations more smoothly. Passenger ship operators also reported that they were able to renovate their existing facilities, leading to the implementation of initiatives to enhance sustainability.
