Stayed at “Rakuten STAY Atami

Posted on 2023-07-162023-07-16 by Editor in Chief

Rakuten STAY Atami will make its grand opening on July 24 in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and has been accepting reservations since July 10. Located at 3-5 Wadahama Minamimachi, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, adjacent to Atami Seaside Park, it is about a 20-minute walk from JR Atami Station, and can also be reached by local bus. A cab will get you there in about 10 minutes.

I stayed in a suite room. In fact, there was originally a hotel called New Takahashi built on this site, which was rebuilt by another hotel operator, and Rakuten Stay took over and opened the facility that was about to operate as a hotel. The guest room design was supervised by Jamo Associates, which is in charge of interior design for the Shibuya TRUNK, etc. Rakuten Stay, which offers a lodging experience that is distinct from a typical hotel, such as renting a whole building, is a little more hotel-like in style. The unattended check-in process is similar to that of a hotel, where guests make reservations online and enter the PIN code sent to them in advance via e-mail into the smart lock of their room to enter the room. Also, check-in tablets are not provided in the rooms, but rather at a counter in the lobby. This time, we stayed in a suite (room 91) on the ninth floor, the top floor. All rooms at this facility have ocean views, and the terrace overlooking Atami Bay is one of its main attractions. The suite’s terrace in particular has a great view and is spacious, so staying there in time for the fireworks display will be even more special. The rooms have a clean, calm, and modern design, with a dining area with a large table and a space with two double beds and a daybed sofa. It is the largest in the complex at approximately 81m2 and has a capacity for six people. The dining room wall is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, and cabinets containing glasses and cups. There is a wine cellar under the microwave oven, and the three types of wine in the cellar (red, white, and sparkling) are available for free. The cabinet also has a simple sink for washing glasses, etc., but there are no cooking utensils other than an electric kettle and coffee mill, and there is no washing machine in the room. This is the same for the other rooms (with the exception of Room 93, which has a traveling chef), and the basic idea is to spend time in a hotel-like manner.
