JR West announced the commemorative logo for the 20th anniversary of the ICOCA service on November 1. In addition, the company will start selling goods featuring the ICOCA character “Ikochan,” a platypus, on July 25 as the first of a series of 20th anniversary commemorative goods.
The ICOCA 20th anniversary logo is based on the octagonal shape of the ICOCA service, which has been expanding its service area in all directions over the past 20 years, connecting various regions, and is vividly expressed with the colors of JR West’s railway lines. The logo will appear in scenes related to the 20th anniversary of ICOCA, such as original products and events.
The 20th anniversary commemorative merchandise features for the first time a design of Ikochan wearing the uniform of a JR station attendant. A total of 21 items will be available, including popular plush toys and products made in collaboration with “Betty Smith,” a long-established jeans manufacturer in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture.
They can be purchased at JR West Group’s station-based stores, the “Train Box” railroad goods store, and the DISCOVER WEST mall, an e-commerce site operated by JR West. The plush toys and the collaboration products will be sold first at the station stores from July 25, and then at other sales outlets from August 8.
