Hawaii Local] [Hawaii Local] Easy to make granola recipes directly from the locals.

Posted on 2023-07-182023-07-18 by Editor in Chief

When I used to travel with 8 local friends and we stayed in a vacation rental, I was impressed by the “free” breakfast. Some people just had coffee, others burned toast ……. As expected, there was no rice and miso soup, but some people thought they were washing celery clean and then made a Bloody Mary (a tomato and vodka based cocktail) and stuck celery in it and drank it, saying it was “healthy”.

One of them, who is a good cook, said he had brought homemade granola and was eating it. How delicious it was! Since then, I stopped buying granola and have been eating granola made with a simple adaptation of the recipe she gave me. The real Rocco’s recipe is baked in the oven, but here is a simple version made in one pan.

Prepare oatmeal, honey, mixed nuts, and dried fruits. To this, peanut butter, hemp seeds, cinnamon, etc. to taste. All in proper quantities.

(1) First, heat olive oil in a large frying pan and add oatmeal. (2) Instead of olive oil, add a large amount of butter and peanut butter for a richer, more local taste.

(2) Cook the oatmeal for about 10 minutes, stirring over medium heat to prevent burning.

(3) After turning off the heat, throw in the honey and stir. Agave syrup is recommended for vegans.

(4) Add peanut butter to taste. You can also add other nut pastes such as hazelnuts. Add raisins or other dried fruits, mixed nuts, or other nuts of your choice, chopped into chunks.

(5) Add hemp seeds, a superfood considered to be full of nutrients, and other ingredients to taste to complete the dish!

Eat as you like. You can also make homemade acai bowls with acai ice cream (Costco), Greek yogurt, almond milk, prunes, etc.

Top with seasonal fruits such as bananas, pineapple, or frozen blueberries.

There are many good-tasting granola products on the market, but they may be too sweet or contain a few additives. When I think that oatmeal could also be genetically modified, I still feel safer making it myself. However, I don’t feel like making it if there are too many steps, so this was a lazy recipe that I continue to make even though I am not a good cook.
