Seibuen Yuenchi (2964 Yamaguchi, Tokorozawa, Saitama) will open the world’s largest Ultraman-themed ride attraction “Ultraman the Ride: The Great Duel of the Century” today, July 14.
The guests themselves become rookie members of the Science Special Search Party and travel through the skies with Ultraman to confront the most powerful monster, the space dinosaur Zetton, which is closing in on them.
Dodging and dodging Zetton’s attacks one after another, what awaits you at the end of your sprint is a shocking, sweaty, and exciting development. The audience will experience an unprecedented sense of immersion as they watch the powerful battle unfold before their very eyes.
The team in charge of the production this time around is a leading Japanese creative team, including Takashi Yamazaki, a film director who has worked on numerous ride attractions, and Shoichiro Tsuno of Sword Co.
The meticulously crafted images and powerful screen are synchronized with sound, wind, and splashing water. Add to this the ride system, which rocked violently in all directions, with rapid acceleration and sharp turns, and you have the ultimate thrill ride experience.
The location is the “Sunset Pavilion” on a small hill in Seibuen Yuenchi. The experience takes about 10 minutes (including the pre-show), and is intended for children 4 years old or older and 100 cm or taller (children under 130 cm must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years old or older). The price is 1,000 yen for a single ticket and 2,000 yen for a Norimono Express ticket set.
On the eve of the opening, a talk session was held with Mr. Yamazaki and Mr. Tsuno as guests. Mr. Yamazaki said, “When I was a child, the first special effects I saw was Ultraman, and it had a strong impact on me. I am happy to be able to work on it,” he said, expressing his passion for the work.
Mr. Tsuno added, “Most large-scale ride attractions in theme parks are created by overseas creators. This time, however, Japanese creators have created an attraction of such quality and perfection based on the theme of Ultraman, the pride of Japan. We were able to demonstrate once again the fundamental power of Japanese entertainment.
Regarding the attention to character modeling, Tsuno said, “You will see Ultraman at an impossible distance and from an impossible angle. You will see Ultraman so divine and beautiful that you will get goosebumps during his appearance and battle scenes,” said Tsuno.
Zetton’s design is said to be one-of-a-kind, incorporating a sense of intimidation and eeriness that instinctively identifies it as a “bad guy” the moment it appears.
Mr. Yamazaki concluded, “Once you get on board, there is no escape. An extraordinary experience awaits you that you would normally never be able to enjoy. I hope that you will just let yourself go and enjoy the ride 100%.
In conjunction with the opening of the park, collaborative products only available at Seibuen Yuenchi will go on sale. The lineup includes food menus that offer a taste of the Ultraman world, goods that can be worn and enjoyed in the park, and souvenir sweets.
