JR East announces service plan for July 19 due to heavy rain in Akita. Akita Shinkansen trains are suspended all day between Morioka and Akita Stations.

JR East Akita Branch announced the operation plan for July 19 and the outlook for July 20 due to the heavy rain in Akita Prefecture. No buses or other substitute transportation will be provided for the suspended sections.

Operation Plan for July 19

Akita Shinkansen: Operation is suspended between Morioka and Akita Stations throughout the day.

Ou Main Line (south of Akita Station): Operation between Omagari and Akita Stations will be suspended all day. Between Yokote and Omagari Stations, trains will operate from the first departure, but only the down train “423M” will be suspended from 6:00 (departure from Yokote) to 6:17 (arrival at Omagari).

Ou Main Line (north of Akita Station): trains between Hachirokata and Higashinoshiro will be suspended all day. The line will operate from the first train between Akita and Hachirokata, but some trains will be cancelled. Between Higashinodai and Odate Stations, trains will be operated with significantly reduced frequency until the end of the day. Limited Express “Tsugaru” trains No. 1-6 will operate between Hirosaki and Aomori Stations with a turnaround service. The operation between Akita and Hirosaki Station is not expected.

Hetsu Main Line Limited Express “Inaho” No.1, No.7, No.8 and No.14 will operate between Niigata and Akita Stations. Due to the suspension of the Akita Shinkansen, the following temporary rapid trains will be in service.

14:53 (Departure from Sakata) – 16:17 (Arrival in Akita)

*Extend the 12:41 (Niigata departure) Inaho No. 5 limited express bound for Sakata to Sakata-Akita Station [up].

13:14 (from Akita) – 14:39 (from Sakata)

*Extend the Inaho 10 limited express bound for Niigata at 2:41 p.m. (from Sakata) to Akita-Sakata Station.

Safety checks are currently underway between Higashinoshiro and Noshiro Stations on the Ono Line in preparation for the resumption of operations from the first departure. Operation between Noshiro and Fukaura Stations will be suspended throughout the day. Rapid “Resort Shirakami” services are in operation between Fukaura and Aomori Stations on the 1, 2, 4, and 5 trains. Operation between Akita and Fukaura Stations is not expected.
