The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Republic of Moldova on July 10 in Chişinău for a loan of up to 13.5 billion yen under the “Economic Reconstruction and Development Policy Loan.
This project will provide financial assistance to the Moldovan government in a situation of fiscal stress caused by Russia’s aggression against neighboring Ukraine, thereby helping to mitigate the impact on Moldovan citizens and displaced Ukrainians, and to build resilience and strengthen competitiveness to reduce vulnerability to economic crises. The project is intended to help mitigate the impact on the people of Moldova and displaced persons in Ukraine, and to build resilience and strengthen competitiveness to reduce vulnerability to economic crisis. Through this project, the project will contribute to SDG Goals 1 (Eradicate poverty), 8 (Inclusive and sustainable economic growth), 10 (Reduce inequality), and 16 (Achieve peaceful and inclusive societies).
