The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on September 5 in Amman for a grant of up to 897 million yen for the “Electricity System Operational Capacity Enhancement Project.
Jordan relies on imports of fossil fuels from neighboring countries, but is promoting a shift to the use of renewable energy from the perspective of energy security. As a result, the share of renewable energy in power generation capacity is rapidly expanding, and power outages caused by fluctuations in output and supply-demand balance are increasing. In light of this situation, improving the stability of power supply and further promoting the use of renewable energies through the development of power system facilities is an issue.
