Air France unveils new Business Class seat. Private full-flat with doors, 4K monitor & Bluetooth support.

Posted on 2023-09-20 by Editor in Chief

On September 12, Air France unveiled its new Business Class seat for long-haul flights. These seats will be installed on Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 aircraft, and are based on the three “F” concept.

The first is “Full Flat,” in which the seats fold down completely to create a flat space approximately two meters long; the second is “Full Access,” in which all seats have direct access to the aisle; and the third is “Full Privacy,” in which partitions and doors can be closed to create a more private and personal space. The last is “Full Privacy,” in which partitions and doors can be closed to create a highly private and personal space.

The seat can be electrically switched between three positions (normal, relaxed, and flat), and the seat position itself can be moved back and forth. The seat position itself can be moved forward or backward. The seat is intended to be pulled back during normal use and moved forward to be closer to the table only when dining. The table comes in two types: a side table that can be installed, and a foldable table that can be used for meals or computer work. The stationary type has a built-in wireless charging pad that can be used to charge a smartphone just by placing it on the table.

Power is provided by a universal AC outlet as well as one USB Type-A/C. The Type-C is located right next to the table and will be especially useful for charging personal devices.

When opening the accessory case depicting the “winged seahorse” used in the company’s first/business class, a vanity mirror, wired headphones, and a remote control for a personal monitor are revealed. The seat’s personal monitor is Bluetooth-compatible, so it is possible to connect your own headphones or earphones. The personal monitor uses a 4K touch panel.

In addition, pressing the button with the moon icon while the door is closed will enter the “DO NOT DISTURB” state, where the color of the seat number on the outside of the door will change. In this mode, the cabin crew will not call out to you, so you can use this mode when you want to rest or concentrate.

The company plans to convert all long-haul business class seats to full-flat by the end of 2023.

A hands-on event is being held at the Roppongi Midtown B1F Atrium, the venue for the event, from September 12 to 14, where visitors can experience this new seat with free admission.
