On September 13, American Express International renewed the “Platinum Card” for individuals and the “American Express Business Platinum Card” for small business owners and sole proprietors. The annual fee for both cards is 165,000 yen, and applications for both cards began on the same day. The annual fee has been increased by 22,000 yen from the previous 143,000 yen.
Japan’s first Platinum Card was issued 30 years ago in October 1993. Gourmet benefits include cash back of up to 20% or up to 40,000 yen per year every time you pay with your Platinum Card at participating restaurants after pre-registration. Eligible restaurants include more than 2,000 restaurants in approximately 20 countries and regions in Japan and abroad.
The shopping benefit is a luxury brand cash back offer: 20% cash back every time you pre-register and pay with your Platinum Card at participating stores, up to a maximum of ¥30,000 per year.
Entertainment benefits include 20% cash back up to ¥12,000 per year, every time you pre-register and pay for eligible services such as DAZN and Hulu with your Platinum Card.
