Nagoya Railroad, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, QUADRAC, Visa Worldwide Japan, JCB, and Nippon Signal will start a demonstration experiment using touch payment at some Nagoya Railroad stations in spring 2024.
By touching a touch-sensitive card (credit, debit, or prepaid) or a smartphone with a card installed to a dedicated reader that will be installed at the ticket gate, passengers will be able to pass through the ticket gate and board the bus without any changes. In addition, by registering the card number used on Q-move, a website provided by QUADRAC, users can check their usage history.
The demonstration period is scheduled to run from spring 2024 to the end of March 2025, with three stations under consideration: Central Japan International Airport Station, Meitetsu Nagoya Station, and Kanayama Station.
The supported brands are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard to be added in due course.
