Created as a dedicated music hall with a capacity of approximately 20,000 people According to an explanation by Tsuyoshi Tamura, President of K Arena Management, which operates the “Music Terrace” urban area that includes K Arena Yokohama, the hall has the world’s largest capacity for music. It seats 20,333 people, all with fabric seats. For acoustics, a speaker system manufactured by L-Acoustics (France) is used to provide high-quality sound throughout the venue. The seating is divided into four tiers: Arena on the first floor, Lower Stand on the third floor, Middle Stand on the fifth floor, and Upper Stand on the seventh floor.

Located an 11-minute walk from Yokohama Station Access to K-Arena Yokohama is an 11-minute walk from Yokohama Station and a 5-minute walk from Shin-Takashima Station (Minatomirai Line). From Shin-Takashima Station, exit at “4 Rinko Park Exit,” cross Tochinokidori Avenue, turn right, pass “Yokohama Anpanman Children’s Museum” and turn left to reach the South Gate of Music Terrace. If the pedestrian deck currently planned by Yokohama City is completed and connected to the West Gate, it will be a 9-minute walk from the East Exit of Yokohama Station. The Music Terrace where the K-Arena Yokohama is located is also home to the Hilton Yokohama, and the main entrance is reached by passing through the Hilton Yokohama. The area around the arena features a tree pole with LED lighting, a large 500-inch outdoor vision screen, an outdoor event space, a merchandise sales area, and a Lawson convenience store on the first floor.

On the day of the interview (September 22), rehearsals for the opening ceremony were in full swing, but we were able to take a look around the interior. Incidentally, the K-Arena Yokohama will open its doors on September 29, with a performance by Yuzu, a popular duo of artists from Yokohama. There are three entrances on the third floor: the Main Entrance, the North Entrance, and the South Entrance.

State-of-the-art facilities and acoustics that make performances exciting Each seat is made of fabric seats with sound-absorbing material to prevent sound reverberation and to ensure comfort. Of these seats, the front three rows from the front of the middle stand are special balcony seats with even higher quality seating. The staff explained that the balcony seats could be sold as premium seats at the discretion of the organizer, or as lottery seats as a benefit for the fan club. As I moved from the arena to the lower stands, middle stands, and upper stands, I listened to the sound output of the rehearsal and did not hear any noticeable echoes or unclear contours of sound, as was reputed to be the case. This makes me very much looking forward to the actual performance. The stage is designed in such a way that the stage is easily visible from the upper stands, and a sense of unity can be experienced even from seats at the far end of the stage. It also has an upper service vision system that can project the stage for the audience in the rear. For reference, some photos taken at a focal length of around 50mm, which is said to be close to the human viewing angle, are shown below.
