The “Railroad Day” Executive Committee will hold the “30th Railroad Festival” on October 8-9. The venue will be the Odaiba East Promenade “Stone and Light Plaza” and “Flower Plaza” near the Kokusai Tenjijo Station on the Rinkai Line.
The first railroad in Japan opened on October 14, 1872, and to commemorate this event, the day was designated as “Railroad Day” in 1994, and 2023 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the day. Every year, JR and private railway companies hold various events around Railroad Day, including the Railway Festival. At the festival, railroad operators and supporting companies will set up booths to sell railway-related goods and other items.
The JR Tokai booth will feature a “Story Corner” where visitors can talk directly with Tokaido Shinkansen drivers, conductors, and pursers; a “rock-paper-scissors” tournament where winners can win presents; a photo spot where the Linear Central Shinkansen appears to pop up; and related goods will also be on sale.
The first prize is a key ring with the new Tokaido Shinkansen in-train chime “Aini Ikou” (meet me), the second prize is a thermo bottle of “Aini Ikou”, and the third prize is an original sticker of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen.
