JR West will sell a digital pass that includes a “common visit to the six temples and shrines,” a tour of the six temples and cultural assets of the ancient capital Nara, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its registration as a World Heritage site, and use of a free tour section of JR lines through the “KANSAI MaaS” wide-area MaaS application.

The sales period is from October 18 to February 28, 2024, and the use period is from October 18 to February 29, 2024. The Rokusha-ji temple common-entrance ticket can be used until March 31, 2024. The price is 6,600 yen.

Visitors can view the following temples: Todaiji, Kofukuji, Kasuga Taisha, Genkoji, Yakushiji, and Toshodaiji. In addition to a gift, visitors can receive a special limited-time red seal featuring the history of each temple or shrine. The ticket must be exchanged in advance at the Nara City Tourist Information Center near JR Nara Station upon presentation of the app’s ticket screen.

When using JR lines, an ICOCA that has been registered with the “KANSAI MaaS” application in advance is required. In addition, before using the Digital Pass, you will need to complete registration for the WESTER Point (charge-only) service at JR West ticket vending machines. At the end of the month following the month in which the Digital Pass is used, WESTER Points will be issued for fares paid with ICOCAs within the free travel area of the JR Lines.
