Mystays Hotel Management began operating Katsuura Gyoen (216-19 Katsuura, Nachikatsuura-cho, Higashimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture) on October 13.
The hotel can be used as a base for pilgrimages to Kumano, as it is located approximately 17 minutes by car from Kumano Nachi-taisha Shrine, which is known as one of the three Kumano shrines, along with Kumano Hongu-taisha Shrine and Kumano Hayatama-taisha Shrine. The restaurant plans to offer dishes that allow guests to fully enjoy fresh seafood unique to the area, centering on fresh tuna from the Katsuura fishing port, which boasts the largest catch of fresh tuna in Japan.
There are a total of 16 types of guest rooms ranging from suites to Japanese-style rooms. Guests can choose from the luxurious Ten rooms on the top floor with an open-air hot spring bath, the casual and modern Tsukuyomi rooms with an open-air hot spring bath, and Japanese Western-style rooms and Japanese-style rooms that boast a view of the sea. Rooms on the Kumano-nada side offer different seascapes by day and night.
Takimino-yu, a hot spring with a garden open-air bath and a large bath, offers natural hot spring water from its own source. The simple sulfur spring water, which is slightly alkaline, warms the body from the core. The hot spring water, which gushes out 200 liters per minute, can be enjoyed in the large bath, one of the largest in western Japan and made entirely of hinoki cypress, and in the garden open-air bath overlooking the Kumano-nada Sea.
