You can learn more about ferry travel and remote island travel at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Maritime Bureau booth! There is also a raffle for a pair of boarding tickets!

Tourism Expo Japan 2023 Osaka-Kansai, one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at INTEX Osaka (Suminoe-ku, Osaka City) for four days from October 26 to 29.

The booth of the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is presenting information on the themes of the sea, islands, travel, and nature. In addition to introducing ferry companies’ routes and special offers, the Office for the Promotion of Policies for Remote Border Islands of the Cabinet Office’s Secretariat for Ocean Policy Promotion exhibits recommendations for travel to remote islands with inhabited borders, and distributes pamphlets on hard-to-find remote islands. For those who tend to have a negative image of long-distance ferry travel, such as “sleeping with strangers,” the latest cleanliness and private rooms are also introduced.

Each shipping company will be presenting a mini-program on the stage in the booth, so if you are interested in a particular route, please check the schedule. There will also be a raffle for a pair of tickets.

In addition, the Maritime Bureau’s YouTube channel “Umi-Coco Channel” is currently uploading original reports by staff members and collaborative videos with YouTuber Noga-san under the “C to Sea Project” to connect Citizen, Children, and Culture to the sea. The C to Sea Project aims to make the ocean more accessible to the public. The staff is currently uploading original reports and videos made in collaboration with YouTuber Noga-san.
