The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) released the “JICA Sustainability Policy” on October 30.
In recent years, international interest in sustainability-related issues such as climate change, conservation of nature and resources, and protection of human rights, as well as the SDGs, has been growing and efforts have been intensified. JICA established the Sustainability Promotion Office in April 2023 with the aim of becoming a more trusted presence among governments and partners in developing countries by promoting sustainability in its organization and operations, as well as to expand its business impact.
The policy outlines JICA’s mid- to long-term goals and direction for sustainability promotion, including the organization’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and the implementation of all new projects in a manner consistent with the Paris Agreement. Under the JICA Sustainability Policy, JICA is united in its efforts to realize a sustainable world.
