Posted on 2023-11-02 by Editor in Chief

Tourism Expo Japan 2023 Osaka-Kansai, one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at INTEX Osaka (Suminoe-ku, Osaka City) for four days from October 26 to 29.

The special section is a collection of booths in specific genres, such as cruise, sports, adventure, etc. Here we will introduce the Sports Corner.

The first thing that catches the eye in the Sports Corner is a life-size panel of Mr. Koji Murofushi, Commissioner General of the Sports Agency. This is the Sports Agency booth, which introduces the sports tourism that the Agency is working on, especially “Budo Tourism,” which focuses on martial arts originating in Japan, such as kendo, judo, and sumo. Visitors can also experience the world of budo through VR goggles and answer questionnaires to receive original goods and other prizes.

Other booths will include those of local governments from around Japan and businesses that offer sports tourism.

The Kochi Prefecture booth will provide information on sports-related tourism, including the Kochi Ryoma Marathon, a major sporting event in Kochi Prefecture, information on training camps, especially for baseball, which is thriving in Kochi Prefecture, and information on watching professional baseball camps. In addition, visitors can receive original goods from the Kochi Ryoma Marathon by answering questionnaires.

At the Snow Heaven Japan booth, information on domestic ski slopes will be presented. They can provide detailed information on the latest domestic slopes. They will also provide consultation on ski tours in various regions, access to slopes, and sightseeing information.

At the HM-A booth, the public will be introduced to international sporting events that are open to the general public. A particularly large event is the Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii, and visitors will be given an overview of this year’s event and how to enter. They will also sell a limited number of original Honolulu Marathon goods that are not available anywhere else.

At the Hoshino Resort booth, the company will introduce its winter sports tourism program. Visitors can learn about the appeal of sports tourism that can be enjoyed only in winter, such as skiing at ski resorts and trekking in winter mountains. There is also a corner where visitors can experience the appeal of winter sports with VR goggles. There will also be a quiz contest where visitors can win accommodation tickets and ski lift tickets.
