Lake Tateshina is a small man-made lake with a circumference of 1 km. The surrounding area is maintained as a park, and maple trees are abundant, so visitors can enjoy maple leaf picking during the fall foliage season. Adjacent to the park is the Sculpture Park, which covers an area of 30,000 tsubo (approximately 1,000 square meters) and has a 2-kilometer promenade with 70 sculptures on display. The garden can be enjoyed together with Lake Tateshina, so it is a good idea to drop by while strolling around the area.
If you wait until sunset, the maple trees along the lakeside will light up, and if there is another beautiful sunset, there is nothing to say about this place.
To get here, take the bus bound for Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway from Chino Station. By car, it is easily accessible from the Suwa Minami IC of the Chuo Expressway, which takes about 30 minutes.
The area around Lake Tateshina has no elevation differences, making it an enjoyable stroll for both the elderly and families with small children. It is a good place to visit during the fall foliage season.
