The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Royal Government of Cambodia on November 6 in Phnom Penh for a grant of up to 1,338 million yen for the “National Electronic Reference Point Network Development Project. This project aims to promote development projects in Cambodia, where efficient implementation of land surveying, topographic mapping, and civil engineering works for development is an issue, by developing an electronic reference point network that enables rapid surveying and highly accurate positioning, and by improving the equipment of the data center of the General Department of Land and Geography of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, thereby strengthening administrative services for land registration and land transactions. JICA is providing technical cooperation in Cambodia under the ongoing “Electronic Reference Point Establishment for Land Management and Infrastructure Development Project” (2021-2023) to introduce electronic reference points in parts of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Stung Treng, to establish data centers of the General Directorate of Land and Geographical Survey, to improve their operation and maintenance capacity, and to promote the use of high-precision positioning information. The project is cooperating with the Directorate General of Cadastral Geography to improve its data center, operation and maintenance capabilities, and to promote the utilization of high-precision positioning information. By establishing electronic reference points throughout the country under this project, the results of the technical cooperation will be able to spread throughout Cambodia.
This project will contribute to improving the quality of life in Cambodia by improving the urban living environment, and will contribute to SDG Goal 9 (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and innovation) and Goal 11 (Build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements) We will.
