JAL will renew the JAL Global Club (JGC) membership system and launch a new lifetime achievement program, the JAL Life Status Program, in January 2024.
Depending on the total number of “Life Status Points” accumulated based on actual use of eligible services, membership in the “JAL Global Club” and various benefits of the newly established “Star Grade” will be offered.
Points can be earned not only by flying, but also by using JAL Card, JAL Pay, and miles earned at JAL Mall. Boardings before the program’s launch are also converted into “Life Status Points” and points will continue to accumulate for life.
Unlike miles, Life Status points cannot be used for award redemption. There will be no change to the FLY ON program, which provides status and awards based on flight performance over the course of a year.
With the introduction of the new program, the criteria for membership in the JAL Global Club will be changed from the number of FLY ON Program flights flown in a year to the number of Life Status Points, which can be earned through non-airline service use.
The “Star Grade” to be established around spring 2024 will have six levels, from the “JMB elite” grade (with 250 points), which offers lounge services and free mobile data, to the “JGC Six Star” grade (with 10,000 points), which offers all benefits, including hotel privileges and unlimited mileage validity. The “JMB elite” tier includes 250 points for lounge service and free mobile data.
Members who are currently JAL Global Club members will be automatically transferred as JAL Global Club members under the new JAL Life Status program.
