Minakami Hotel Juraku” in Minakami Onsen, with 30 retro games available for free board game rental in guest rooms. Day trip plans also available.

Minakami Hotel Juraku (665 Yubara, Minakami-cho, Tone-gun, Gunma Prefecture) will offer free board games to be played in guest rooms and lounges from November 23, which is designated as “Labor Thanksgiving Day” and “Game Day.

The period is from November 23 to 30. If you tell the front desk staff the password “Game Day,” you can enjoy various board games for free, such as “Haattegatte Game” and “Nanjamonja,” which normally cost 500 yen per day for a rental.

The hotel has also set up a game corner specializing in retro games, hoping to “preserve the good old ways of enjoying games and let people of all ages experience them” in the year 2020 of the Corona Vortex.

The oldest retro game in the hotel is “Mini Drive” (made in 1973), which is still in operation in Japan, “Striker” (made in 1993), which is a pinball-like game where you have to bounce balls to make them line up, “Hill Climber” (made in 1993), which is a game to move a steel ball gradually upward, and “The Grip Strength” (made in 2006), which measures your grip strength from left to right for 100 yen. The “Hill Climber” (made in 1993), a game in which iron balls are gradually moved upward, and “The Grip Strength” (made in 2006), which measures left and right hand grip strength for 100 yen, are among the 30 famous machines that gained popularity during the Showa and Heisei periods.

In addition to overnight stays in guest rooms overlooking the clear waters of the Tone River and the mountains, a one-day plan (6,000 yen per person) is also available, which includes an open-air bath and sauna in the Mizukami Hot Springs, and a dinner buffet featuring seasonal ingredients.
