JICA President Akihiko Tanaka received the Order of the North Star, the highest decoration awarded to foreigners by the Mongolian government, at a ceremony held in Tokyo on November 29, where he received the decoration from President Ofer Hrelsuf.
The Order of the Northern Star is awarded to those who have contributed in the fields of society, economy, science, technology, culture, education, and health, and Chancellor Tanaka’s contributions to the development of Mongolia were highly evaluated.
At the award ceremony, President Hrelsuf congratulated President Tanaka, saying that Japan is Mongolia’s most reliable partner as its “third neighbor,” that JICA’s cooperation has reached each and every Mongolian citizen, and that JICA has played and will continue to play an extremely important role in the development of bilateral relations. He congratulated President Tanaka on the great role that JICA has played in the development of relations between the two countries. President Tanaka expressed his gratitude for the high evaluation of Japan’s ODA and JICA projects, and his hope that the friendship between Japan and Mongolia will be further strengthened.
