ANA and JAL announced that they will consider standardizing some qualifications that each company needs to obtain for ground handling operations at airports.
Ground handling is the ground movement of airplanes and the unloading and loading of cargo and baggage. Currently, training for both ANA and JAL certifications is required for the same content, and there is a shortage of personnel, especially at small airports.
Based on the “Vision for Sustainable Development of Airport Operations” released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in June, a mechanism will be developed so that from April 2024, either ANA or JAL can obtain qualifications from both companies through training.
