The Japan Association of Private Railway Companies and all 91 railroad companies and bureaus will start displaying the anti-violence poster “Drunken Momentum, STOP!
It is a call for people not to commit acts of violence against attendants, crew members, or other users in the station. The design picks up on drunken assaults before the year-end and New Year’s holidays, and features an illustration of a beer mug on a temporary stop road sign.
It also clearly states that 289 of the 543 acts of violence against railroad attendants in FY2022 occurred while under the influence of alcohol, and that violence is a crime, reiterating that violence will not be tolerated.
