JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Kyrgyz President Sadil Zaparov in Tokyo on November 20.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Japarov expressed his pleasure at seeing visiting President Tanaka for the first time in two months and his appreciation for JICA’s contribution to Kyrgyzstan. He also stated that Japan is an important partner for Kyrgyzstan in the Pacific region and expressed his sincere hope for further development of bilateral relations.
President Tanaka expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received during his visit to Kyrgyzstan in September this year and for the understanding and support of the President and the Kyrgyz people for JICA projects. He also expressed his confidence that bilateral relations will develop to an even higher level.
The two parties exchanged views on the possibility of further cooperation in the field of human resource development, including the “Scholarship Program for Human Resource Development (JDS),” a program to accept foreign students for young administrative officials, as well as future cooperation in the field of hydropower generation in Kyrgyzstan, where water resources are abundant.
