Tokyo Metro will begin operating its 8-car Series 9000 trains on December 16. The number of cars in the 09-21 trains is being increased from six to eight in order to increase the transportation capacity of the Nanboku Line, and the train capacity will increase from 882 to 1,200 passengers.
In conjunction with the conversion to 8-car trains, a large-scale renovation was also carried out to renew the onboard facilities and other equipment. In addition to installing surveillance cameras and free space inside the cars and increasing the number of priority seats, energy savings were achieved by improving the performance of the control system.
