S.RIDE has launched a “Virtual Taxi Spot” function on its S.RIDE cab app (iOS version), which displays on a map locations where it is easy to get an empty cab.
The service covers approximately 2,000 locations in Tokyo’s 23 wards, Musashino City, and Mitaka City, and an Android version will be available soon, using AI technology to display nearby spots where S.RIDE-enabled cabs are likely to pass within approximately 10 minutes, depending on time, weather, traffic conditions, and other factors.
Each spot is also taken into account as to whether it is easy to get a cab, such as at a break in the guardrail, and which side of the road is easiest to catch a cab, providing a guide to “where to wait for a cab” when visiting a place for the first time, during busy times, or when you are not sure whether to hail a cab or not.
In addition, S.RIDE Premium users can check the passing interval of cabs within approximately 3 to 15 minutes and with four levels of icons.
