Marriott “Tokyo Edition Ginza” opened. Luxury hotel with 86 rooms including suites

Posted on 2023-12-192023-12-19 by Editor in Chief

Marriott International Japan opened Tokyo Edition Ginza (2-8-13 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo).

This will be the second Edition hotel following the first Edition hotel in Japan, “Tokyo Edition Toranomon,” and was designed by Ian Schrager, who is responsible for the Edition brand, and architect Kengo Kuma. The building will feature a modern brasserie with a Japanese flair, Japan’s only cocktail bar focusing on punch, and Ginza’s first natural wine bar.

The 14-story tower will feature a total of 86 guest rooms, including 10 suites with separate living rooms. The rooms will feature walnut wood floors and walls with custom-made furniture in travertine and cream leather, as well as green marble vanities and chrome faucets in the bathrooms. White signature faux fur throws and art by Sayaka Maruyama and Takay Photography are also installed. Rates start at 120,000 yen per room per night.

The lobby is a two-story atrium facing the street. The edition’s iconic “Lobby Bar” is at the heart of the hotel, where you can enjoy breakfast as well as coffee, pastries, and fresh-pressed juices from a local roastery.

The Punch Room, located on the second floor of the lobby, is a lounge bar with a moody atmosphere, and offers a menu with a Japanese twist based on punch recipes used in private clubs in London in the 19th century. The menu includes shareable cocktails served in silver punch bowls with ladles, using local spirits, Japanese sake, green tea, and other domestic ingredients, as well as spices imported from around the world.

In addition, afternoon tea will begin in early 2024. They can enjoy tea punches such as Green Tea Yuzu Paloma and Matcha Infused Clarified Milk Punch, along with sweets, savories and parfaits that make the most of Japanese fruits.

The 14th floor dining room “Sophie at EDITION” is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers a casual brasserie-style menu using ingredients from small local farms.
