The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) of up to 20 billion yen with the Government of the Republic of Turkey on December 20 in Ankara for the “Post Earthquake Support Project for Small and Micro Enterprises.
The earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey in February 2023 caused deaths of workers, evacuation to other areas, damage to factories and other buildings and equipment, and disruption of supply chains, among other hardships to small, medium, and micro enterprises in the affected areas. Since micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are the pillars that support the country’s economy, this program provides liquidity funds to affected MSMEs.
