The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) on December 26 in Vientiane for a grant of up to 4,171 million yen for the “Chao Anuwong Stadium Renovation Project.
Chao Anuwong Stadium was built in 1950 in the center of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, and has been used to host various events for the general public and athletes, as well as competitions and practices for domestic sports (soccer, rugby, etc.) and para-athletics in Laos. However, the serious aging of the facility and lack of equipment have hindered the safe use of the facility by athletes, including those with disabilities, and the general public, as well as the smooth operation of the facility.
