Meiji Jingu Shrine, Hatsumode 2024 Information: Traffic restrictions around Harajuku/Yoyogi station from 31st to 3rd.

Posted on 2023-12-272024-01-06 by Editor in Chief

opening time of the gate

December 31, 2023 from 6:40 a.m. to midnight

January 1, 2024, 0:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

January 2-3, 2024 6:40am-6pm each day

January 4, 2024, 6:40 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

After January 5, 2024 6:40 a.m. – 4:20 p.m.

Especially from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and after 10:00 a.m. on Sangatsu (three days of the year), crowds are expected, so we are asking for cooperation in dispersing visits to the temple.

During the Hatsumode (New Year’s visit to the shrine) period, a new hand-watering place with running water will be added, and the awarding offices (for omifuda, omamori, omikuji, goshuin, etc.) will be specially set up in front of Meiji Jingu Hall (in the direction of Harajuku and Yoyogi) and on the west approach lawn (in the direction of Sangubashi) instead of near the main shrine building.

In addition, “Fureai Hiroba” will be held from December 31, and restaurants and cafes on the grounds will be open from December 1.

Traffic regulations around Harajuku Station and Yoyogi Station will be enforced from December 31 to January 3. For details, please check the official website of the Harajuku Police Station.
