Kamakura Beniya, limited time only color “Pale Blue” for Kurumikko cans. Online store sold by lottery.

Posted on 2024-01-062024-01-07 by Editor in Chief

Kamakura Beniya will release a limited-time product, “Kurumikko 10 pieces (can) Pale Blue” (2,160 yen) on January 22, 2024. It will be sold at directly managed stores of Kamakura Beniya, official online store, and some department stores’ events.

Kurumikko is the company’s flagship product, created about 40 years ago. It is a baked cake made of homemade caramel and walnuts sandwiched between butter dough. The company developed the product by taking a hint from Engadiner, a traditional Swiss pastry, in order to make use of the dough left over when the long-selling “Kamakura Dayori” sable was cut out of the mold.

The brown can, which has become a standard product, will be released in September 2020, followed by limited-time offerings such as sweet pink (2022) and pastel green (2023).

And for 2024, “pale blue,” a color said to bring happiness, will be available. The design cans, embossed with the symbolic character “Squirrel,” can be used for sewing tools, stationery, stickers, stamps, etc., even after eating sweets.
