East Japan Railway Company’s Metropolitan Headquarters will operate the “Tokyo Marutto Yamanote Line,” a one-round tour of Tokyo on the Yamanote Line, on March 2.
This is a one-day event organized by the drivers and conductors on the Yamanote Line. On the day of the event, passengers aboard the chartered E235 Series train departing from Ikebukuro Station (around 13:26) and arriving at Ikebukuro Station (around 14:32) will be able to enjoy views of Tokyo and the metropolis that they would normally miss from the train, which runs at a slower speed.
The tour also introduces the attractions of Tokyo and the Yamanote Line, such as train windows, sightseeing information along the line, station and railroad facilities, and history, which only an active Yamanote Line conductor knows. As a bonus for participants, they will receive an “original train card” and “original pamphlet” designed by the train crew.
Prices are ¥2,000 for adults (junior high school students and older), ¥1,000 for children, and free for up to two preschool children per adult (no boarding for elementary school students and younger only). Tickets must be purchased in advance at “JRE MALL. Sales will begin at 3:00 p.m. on February 1, with a maximum capacity of 270 people (tickets will be sold out as soon as they are sold out).
