Conrad Tokyo (1-9-1 Higashi-Shinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo) will hold “Sakura Strawberry Afternoon Tea Spring URARA” at its 28th floor bar and lounge “Twenty Eight. The event will run from March 1 to May 6 (11:00 to 16:30 each day) and last for two hours.
This year’s theme is “Japanese meets Western. Five types of sweets that look like Japanese sweets but are based on Western sweets will be offered, along with three types of savory dishes that could easily be mistaken for sweets.
In addition, two types of scones (plain/brown sugar and malt miso), which have remained popular since the opening of the restaurant, can be tasted with clotted cream and strawberry jam. About 20 types of drinks, including TWG Tea tea, are available for self-service.
The sweets on the menu include “Cherry Jelly and Apricot Tofu Velini” with two layers of cherry blossoms, “Mugwort and Cherry Blossom Tigre”, a baked cake with mugwort butter cake and mashed sweet bean paste, “Kigashira Yuzu and Strawberry Rare Cheese Cake” using Tokushima Prefecture’s Kigashira citron with its skin, “Amaou and Pistachio Mousse” decorated with edible chrysanthemum and butterfly and “Uji Matcha Chocolate Terrine,” in which the elegant sweetness of Kanoko-mame (soybean paste) complements the aroma of matcha green tea.
The savory items include “Jamon Serrano and Sweet Potato Cream Tart with Sakura Kanten” topped with sour cream, “Scallop and Cherry Panna Cotta with Rape Flower Creme” inspired by water chestnuts, and “Beef Stewed in Miso Dorayaki Style” with beef and dumplings stewed in red miso and sandwiched in a dorayaki crust. The menu included the following items.
In addition, the “Deluxe Afternoon Tea” plan, which includes the hotel mascot “Conrad Bear” and a glass of champagne, offers an additional savory: “Snow Crab Tartar with Tomato Consommé Il Frotante with Cherry Blossom Flowers”.
