Posted on 2024-01-302024-02-08 by Editor in Chief

Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Kagoshima Bank, Kagoshima Card, Nimoca, QUADRAX, JCB, and Reship will launch a new credit card touch payment service on March 1.

Utilizing “stera transit”, a solution for public transportation provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. The service will be expanded to include touch-settlement compatible cards for Kagoshima city buses and smartphones with the cards installed, and a monthly fare cap service will be launched for Kagoshima city streetcars and city buses.

The monthly fare cap service sets a monthly limit of 9,660 yen for touch-transaction fees on streetcars and city buses. The service is applicable to rides using the same card number and the same media, and only the amount of one person’s fare is covered if multiple people pay for the same ride. The passenger’s boarding and alighting history can be checked by registering on QUADRAC’s Q-move website.

The service will be available on all streetcar and city bus routes, as well as City View and Island View. Payment brands covered are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with MasterCard to be added.
