The aircraft will be a Boeing 787-8. The aircraft is a Boeing 787-8 with 355 seats in two classes: 21 business and 314 economy seats. There are eight round-trip flights per week departing from Brisbane and Kansai Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The return flight, JQ24, departs from KIX at 21:45 and arrives in Brisbane at 7:25 the following day.

Jetstar commenced operations on the KIX – Brisbane, Australia route on February 2. Jetstar was the first LCC to operate a scheduled flight to Japan, launching the KIX-Brisbane-Sydney route in August 2007, but it was suspended in September 2008 when the new KIX-Gold Coast route was launched, making this the first new service in 15 years and four months.

On the 2nd, the first day of resumed service, approximately 70% of the passengers were foreign nationals, including 283 passengers (including 1 infant). In front of Gate 3 of Kansai Airport Terminal 1, the boarding gate, the official character of Kansai Airport, “Sorayan,” came to celebrate the resumption of service and took commemorative photos with the crew of JQ24. The ground handling staff of Swissport Japan also made a special announcement to celebrate the re-launch of the flight after a 15-year absence. Jetstar Airways Japan President Toshiaki Yokota and others handed out commemorative gifts to passengers, and the entire gate was filled with a festive mood.

Flight JQ24 carrying passengers blocked out at 22:02. At the ramp, Jetstar staff, Kansai Airport and Swissport Japan staff saw off the first flight with a banner. The blocked-out aircraft took off from RWY06 to Brisbane at 22:20.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have worked so hard to make the Kansai – Brisbane route successful,” said Toshiaki Yokota, Jetstar Airways Japan President. Kansai Airport is a memorable place where Jetstar Airways first started service as an LCC in March 2007. (Jetstar Airways will launch flights on the existing Kansai – Cairns route, the new Kansai – Brisbane route, and the Kansai – Sydney route starting in April. We plan to dramatically increase the number of flights to and from Kansai International Airport,” he said.
