JR East will release two types of “Shinkansen e-Tickets (Tokudate)” to coincide with the March 16th opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line extension between Kanazawa and Tsuruga.

This ticket, available only to “Eki Net” members, offers discounts by making reservations early, making travel between the Tokyo metropolitan area and Hokuriku more convenient and economical.

For example, the regular Shinkansen e-ticket for a one-way trip between Tokyo and Tsuruga costs 16,160 yen for an adult, but a 30% discount (4,850 yen savings) to 11,310 yen with Tokudari Value 14 and a 10% discount (1,630 yen savings) to 14,530 yen with Tokudari Value 1.
